PM Modi Expresses Condolences Over Nalanda Tragedy, Announces Financial Aid

New Delhi, March 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow on Tuesday regarding the tragic incident at the Sheetala Mata Temple in Nalanda, Bihar. He extended his condolences to the victims’ families. The central government announced a financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for the injured in the stampede.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted Modi saying, “The accident in Nalanda district, Bihar, is extremely tragic. I express my condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this incident. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund will provide ₹2 lakh to the families of each deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his sorrow on social media platform X, stating, “The stampede incident at the Sheetala Temple in Nalanda (Bihar) is extremely sad and painful. I extend my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. I also wish for the quick recovery of all the injured.”

Central Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan posted on X, “The tragic incident at the Sheetala Mata Temple in Nalanda, Bihar, resulting in the death and injury of devotees, is deeply distressing. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and a central minister, also shared his grief, stating, “The stampede at the Sheetala Mata Temple in Nalanda (Bihar) is extremely sad and painful. I extend my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this incident. I also wish for the quick recovery of all the injured.”

A significant tragedy occurred at the Maghda Mela in Nalanda on Tuesday, where a sudden stampede at the renowned Sheetala Mata Temple led to the death of seven individuals, with a higher number of women among the deceased. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his sorrow over the incident and announced a compensation of ₹6 lakh for the families of the deceased.
