Hardeep Singh Puri Criticizes Opposition for Celebrating Womens Rights Setback

New Delhi, April 18: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has launched a strong attack on the opposition following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation. In his historic speech, PM Modi emotionally apologized to the mothers and sisters of the country for the inability to amend the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ despite numerous efforts.

Puri took to social media platform X to express that “everyone could feel how deeply hurt PM Modi was.” He emphasized that the women of India are still deprived of the power that would come with the passage of this amendment. He stated that the nation is witnessing a halt in women’s progress, while the opposition celebrates this setback.

He accused the Congress and its allies of sabotaging this effort in Parliament. They spread false rumors and misinformation, he claimed. Puri clarified that this amendment was not about taking away from anyone but about giving rights that have been pending for 40 years, which were expected to be granted by the 2029 elections. He described it as a ‘Maha-Yagna’ aimed at removing obstacles for women.

Puri further stated that these parties celebrated the defeat of India’s mothers and sisters, disrespecting the sentiments of the Constitution’s framers. “The women of this country will never forget this humiliation,” he asserted.

He pointed out that while the priority for the government is the ‘national interest,’ the opposition prioritizes ‘party interest.’ Women’s empowerment has had to bear the burden of the selfish politics of parties like Congress, DMK, TMC, and the Samajwadi Party.

Puri noted that had this bill passed, the number of seats would have increased in every state, including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala. Those protesting have disappointed those they claim to represent.

Accusing Congress of practicing ‘divide and rule’ politics inherited from the British, Puri stated that the party continues to operate under this principle. He asserted that Congress harbors a disdain for women’s reservation and consistently plots to obstruct it.

Puri emphasized that Prime Minister Modi’s resolve remains unshaken. He concluded, “Congress has always been an anti-reform party. Whenever efforts have been made in this direction, Congress has erected obstacles. This time too, they resorted to lies and attempted to mislead the nation.”
