Kolkata, April 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ held in Mathurapur. As the first phase of voting for 152 seats continues in West Bengal, he accused the TMC and its allies of revealing their ‘anti-women face’ once again.
Modi claimed that May 4 would mark the expiration date for the TMC’s syndicate and the ‘Mahajangalraj’ in the state. He stated that after this date, a complete account of the alleged looting would be presented.
Referring to the Parliament, he noted that the BJP government had proposed a 33% reservation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, but the TMC voted against it. He alleged that this decision deprived women in Bengal of their rights.
Upon arriving at Gangasagar, Modi expressed his gratitude, stating it was an honor to be on this sacred land as a servant of Kashi and Ganga.
He asserted that a wave of change is sweeping through Bengal. The manner in which women and youth voted against the TMC in the first phase of elections has been witnessed across the country. He remarked, “The bumper voting indicates that fear is losing, and trust is set to win. In ten days, when the counting occurs, the lotus will bloom everywhere.”
Modi made a special appeal to first-time voters, urging them to seize this opportunity to oust the ‘ruthless government’ in Bengal.
He emphasized that women in the state are the most affected, citing incidents like RG Kar and Sandeshkhali as evidence of the protection given to criminals. He stated that the hardships faced by the mothers and daughters of Bengal will never be forgotten.
The Prime Minister declared that atrocities and injustices will no longer be tolerated. He criticized the TMC for its wrongdoings over the past 15 years, recalling that Bengal had previously endured 30 years of Leftist rule and had given the TMC three chances, but now it is time for change.
Highlighting the achievements of the central government, he mentioned schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, Ayushman Card, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, stating that these benefits have reached people nationwide. He accused the TMC of making only false promises.
Modi addressed the issues of floods and cyclones, noting that people in the region are affected every year, yet the state government shows no concern. He claimed that the central government has sent thousands of crores for relief, but that money has not reached the people and has been misused.
He asserted that the situation in Bengal will change when the BJP forms the government in the state. He urged voters to give the BJP a chance, as they have already chosen the party at the center.
Referring to the Bhanga Mela in Mathurapur, Modi promised that the BJP would elevate it as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission. He pledged to provide artisans with digital skills and safety equipment, aiming to develop the fair into an organized market hub.
The Prime Minister accused the TMC government of only caring about its interests, showing no concern for the people’s joys and sorrows. He stated that the heritage and strength of Bengal are known worldwide, but the TMC is sitting on it. He also raised issues of corruption, cut money, and syndicate rule.
During the rally, a young girl approached with a picture of PM Modi, to which he responded positively, stating he would write her a letter.
