Bengaluru, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Sunday. He accused Congress of blaming “the entire world” for its electoral defeats, attributing this behavior to its arrogance. He also claimed that the party has betrayed its ally, the DMK, in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing a public gathering near HAL Airport in Bengaluru, PM Modi highlighted that while the BJP continues to achieve electoral victories, Congress, which once held over 400 seats nearly 40 years ago, has failed to surpass the 100-seat mark in the last three Lok Sabha elections. He remarked, “Despite their arrogance, they blame the world for their losses.”
PM Modi further criticized Congress, stating, “They blame the Constitution, democracy, constitutional institutions, and the courts. In my political career, I have never seen a mainstream party behave this way. They are so deep in their defeat that they have no option but to resort to abusive language.”
He emphasized that for BJP governments, the welfare of the people is paramount. “Twenty-five crore people have risen above poverty. Our slogan is ‘Sabka Kalyan’ (Welfare for All), and our model is ‘Good Governance.’ This is why people continue to give the BJP a chance to serve them again,” he added.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Congress governments in various states fail to return to power after their first term. “Within a year of coming to power, public dissatisfaction begins to surface. This happens because Congress only knows how to deceive. Their ‘guarantees’ are false. There is no chapter on ‘Good Governance’ in Congress’s book,” he stated.
He noted, “We have seen this in Karnataka over the past three years. Instead of addressing people’s issues, this government has spent most of its time resolving internal conflicts. No one can say how long the Chief Minister will remain in power or if another leader will get a chance. Their future remains uncertain.”
PM Modi also mentioned that during the election process in Tamil Nadu, an ecosystem based in Delhi was attempting to mislead the country. “Even after the results were announced on May 4, a government has yet to be formed in Kerala,” he said.
He commented, “This ecosystem remains silent in Kerala. They themselves do not know whether they will have two chief ministers for five years or one each year. They are unable to reach any conclusion.”
The Prime Minister accused Congress of betraying its own leaders after making promises, citing examples from Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. “The same game is ongoing in Karnataka and Kerala. In Himachal Pradesh, you would be surprised to know what is happening. They are not allowing such matters to come to the media. They are unable to even pay their employees,” he added.
He further stated, “In Telangana, the situation is such that farmers are being driven to suicide. Wherever Congress is in power, either the government treasury is looted for appeasement politics, or there are internal disputes over the looted money. Congress has become known as a deceitful party, and that is why, whenever it gets a chance, it betrays its own leaders. It is said that there is no one whom Congress has not betrayed. Congress had a strong relationship with the DMK in Tamil Nadu for 30 years. It was due to this alliance that Congress remained in power.”
He concluded by saying that the Congress-led government at the center could only function with the support of the DMK. “But what happened? Despite such a long-standing relationship and the DMK always working in Congress’s favor, as soon as the power dynamics shifted, Congress stabbed the DMK in the back,” he stated.
