Congress Slams BJP Over Toxic Alcohol Tragedy in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a scathing attack on the BJP in response to the tragic deaths caused by toxic alcohol in Madhya Pradesh. In a post on X, he stated that the BJP has crossed all limits of corruption and negligence, leading to a situation where human lives have lost their value.

Kharge highlighted the devastating impact of the incident in Sagar district, where 31 individuals have died after consuming contaminated liquor, with 11 others still fighting for their lives. He lamented the destruction of 31 families, noting that some have lost sons, fathers, or husbands, yet for the BJP government, this is merely another unfortunate incident.

He criticized the BJP’s handling of various crises over the past 22 years, recalling events such as the deaths of over 27 children in Balaghat, the High Court‘s reprimand of the government for delaying a survey report, and the loss of 36 lives due to contaminated water in Indore. Additionally, he mentioned the deaths of 25 children from toxic cough syrup and 53 maternal fatalities in Sidhi over the course of a year.

Kharge asserted that whether the poison is in alcohol, water, or medicine, the people of Madhya Pradesh are paying the ultimate price with their lives. He accused the “double-engine government” of evading accountability at an alarming pace. When the public seeks justice, they are met with water cannons and tear gas, he added, emphasizing that neither the central government nor the BJP’s state administrations take responsibility, and no one faces punishment for these tragedies.
