New Delhi, August 1: The Commonwealth Games 2026 continues to showcase the remarkable performances of Indian athletes. On Friday, India secured a total of six medals. Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in javelin throw, while Yashveer Singh clinched bronze. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Neeraj and other athletes for their achievements.
The Prime Minister praised Tejaswin Shankar for winning a historic bronze medal in the decathlon event. He shared on his social media platform, “Indian athletes are consistently making history and bringing glory to the nation. Tejaswin Shankar has won a bronze medal in the men’s decathlon event at the Glasgow CWG, showcasing outstanding performance across ten events. Congratulations to him. May he continue to achieve success.”
PM Modi also commended Yamini Maurya, who earned a silver medal in judo. He wrote, “Congratulations to Yamini Maurya for winning a silver medal in the 57 kg judo category. She played exceptionally well, and her passion for judo is evident in her performance. Her achievement will inspire many young athletes to take up judo. Wishing her all the best for her future endeavors.”
Neeraj Chopra, considered India’s biggest hope for medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026, secured a silver medal. PM Modi congratulated him, stating, “A fantastic silver for Neeraj Chopra in the men’s javelin event in Glasgow. He has once again demonstrated remarkable consistency, patience, and enthusiasm.
