Auckland, July 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully concluded his grand visit to New Zealand and is now returning to India. He received a warm farewell with state honors. PM Christopher Luxon embraced him and waved goodbye.
During the final phase of his six-day official tour, PM Modi arrived in Auckland. The visit proved to be highly successful, resulting in the signing of 18 significant decisions and 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Recognizing the longstanding friendship between India and New Zealand, shared democratic values, deep ties among people, and mutual interests in the Indo-Pacific, both Prime Ministers decided to elevate their relationship to a ‘strategic partnership.’ They endorsed a framework titled ‘India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership: Roadmap to 2030’ for collaborative efforts over the next four years.
Both sides agreed to conduct regular visits and meetings among high-level delegations, including discussions during regional and multilateral programs.
They also committed to doubling bilateral trade in goods and services to NZD 7 billion (approximately ₹35,000 crores) by 2030.
On Saturday, PM Modi participated in several important events. PM Luxon hosted a gala lunch in his honor, and in the evening, he attended the ‘Kia Ora Modi‘ event. This gathering of the Indian diaspora was significant, where PM Luxon praised the contributions of Indians, highlighting their 9% share in boosting New Zealand’s economy.
For PM Modi, these moments were both emotional and encouraging. He assured that it will not take another 40 years for an Indian Prime Minister to visit New Zealand again. He stated, “It took 40 years for an Indian PM to come to New Zealand; you won’t have to wait that long again. This is Modi’s guarantee, and a guarantee from Modi means a promise fulfilled.”
