PM Modi Advocates for Womens Reservation, Promises Implementation by 2029 Elections

Thiruvalla, April 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large NDA rally in Thiruvalla on Saturday, emphasizing that women’s empowerment is a priority for his government. He announced a target to provide 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies under the Women’s Reservation Bill, which is set to be implemented by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

The Prime Minister revealed that discussions on this bill will take place in Parliament between April 16 and 18. He urged all parties to reach a consensus on the matter and called for constructive cooperation from the opposition.

Addressing concerns regarding seat delimitation, PM Modi firmly stated that not a single Lok Sabha seat will be reduced in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He dismissed these claims as rumors aimed at creating confusion among the public.

Upon arriving in Kochi, PM Modi traveled by helicopter to Thiruvalla, where he noted the overwhelming crowd along the route, creating a human chain on both sides of the road without a formal roadshow.

Highlighting women’s welfare as central to government policies, PM Modi mentioned that his administration has focused on housing, drinking water, and other basic amenities. He also announced a free cancer vaccination program for adolescent girls.

He asserted that if the NDA forms a “double engine” government in Kerala, these initiatives would gain momentum.

Criticizing the state’s political landscape, he accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) of alternating power without delivering substantial development to the state.

Despite the potential in sectors like tourism and the blue economy, PM Modi noted that Kerala has lagged behind. He pointed out issues such as poor road conditions, lack of major bridges, and shortcomings at Kottayam Medical College.

The Prime Minister claimed that the central government has provided Kerala with five times more financial assistance compared to previous Congress administrations. He highlighted that ₹13,000 crores have been allocated to support farmers, particularly rubber producers.

Using the development of predominantly Christian states in the Northeast and Goa as examples, PM Modi expressed confidence that Kerala could follow a similar path.

In conclusion, he stated that corruption, communalism, and youth migration are hindering the state’s progress. He urged voters to reject traditional political parties and give the NDA a chance to promote inclusive and women-led development.
