Piyush Goyal Meets German Delegation to Discuss AI and Clean Energy Partnerships

New Delhi, August 19: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with a delegation from Germany, including prominent companies and key officials from the state of Hesse, on Tuesday. The meeting included Hesse’s Minister-President Boris Rhein and Federal Minister for European Affairs, International Affairs, and Bureaucracy Reduction, Manfred Pentz.

During the discussions, both nations explored partnerships in various sectors such as AI, clean energy, research and development, data centers, GCC, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, manufacturing, fintech, deep tech, and skilling.

Goyal shared on the social media platform ‘X’ that the dialogue with the German delegation was productive, highlighting the potential for collaboration in these critical areas.

He emphasized the strong synergy between India and Hesse, expressing hopes to leverage new opportunities arising from the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to enhance partnerships in trade, technology, investment, and innovation.

Earlier, while addressing the opening ceremony of the Indian Business Festival in the national capital, Goyal noted that India’s growing economic participation globally and strengthening trade relations with various countries present significant opportunities for Indian industries. He asserted that India is now better positioned to showcase its products and services on the world stage.

The minister also mentioned that the central government has established nine FTAs in recent years, providing Indian companies with preferential access to international markets. This initiative has created new opportunities for Indian exporters, industries, and the service sector.

Goyal praised India’s export performance, acknowledging the contributions of MSMEs, farmers, fishermen, entrepreneurs, laborers, and the service sector in boosting exports. He stated that India’s economy is currently around $4 trillion, with a government target to expand it to $30 trillion by 2047.
