Union Minister Piyush Goyal and CM Yogi Welcome Yamanashi Governor

New Delhi, August 19: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed Kotaro Nagasaki, the Governor of Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture. Governor Nagasaki is leading a high-level delegation of over 200 Japanese CEOs, business leaders, industry representatives, and policymakers. This delegation has arrived in India to participate in the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.

The five-day event commenced with a welcome dinner in New Delhi for the Japanese delegation. The aim of the program is to convert Japan’s growing investment interest in Uttar Pradesh into tangible investments, technological partnerships, manufacturing projects, and job opportunities.

While welcoming the Japanese delegation, Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the strong economic ties between India and Japan, along with the increasing opportunities for Japanese companies in India. He noted that Uttar Pradesh’s improving infrastructure, skilled workforce, and investment-friendly environment provide excellent opportunities for the global expansion of Japanese firms.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to long-term partnerships with Japanese investors. He stated that world-class infrastructure, skilled talent, and investment-friendly policies offer a solid foundation for Japanese companies to invest, expand, and create jobs in the state.

CM Yogi emphasized that this partnership aligns with his vision of making Uttar Pradesh a trillion-dollar economy, with Japan playing a significant role in manufacturing and technology-based development.

Governor Kotaro Nagasaki remarked that this visit would help strengthen economic and institutional ties between Yamanashi and Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized the potential for collaboration in areas such as clean energy, technology, skill development, and tourism. The five-day event, organized by Invest UP, will take place from August 18 to 23 in New Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida, and Varanasi.

The main UP-Japan Investment Meet is scheduled for August 21 in Lucknow, featuring G2B and B2B sessions. Key collaboration areas during this meet will include manufacturing, automobiles, semiconductors, green energy, digital infrastructure, skill development, and tourism.

The UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, with participation from over 200 Japanese business leaders, is seen as a crucial step towards revitalizing investment-based partnerships between Uttar Pradesh and Japan. The focus will be on strengthening cooperation in technology, manufacturing, and employment sectors.
