PIB Fact Check Debunks Viral Letter Linked to Operation Sindoor 2.0

New Delhi, June 17: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has confirmed that a letter circulating on social media regarding ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’ is entirely fake. This letter was purportedly issued by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, detailing preparations for the operation.

In a post on the social media platform X, PIB Fact Check urged the public not to trust misleading information. They clarified that neither the Defence Secretary nor the Defence Ministry has issued such a letter.

The fact-checking unit stated, “Do not trust fake news!” They reported that a letter allegedly released in the name of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh was spreading rapidly online, referencing preparations for ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’. The post emphasized, “This letter is fake. Neither the Defence Secretary nor the Defence Ministry has issued such a letter.”

PIB Fact Check also shared an image of the purported document, titled “Subject: Operation Sindoor 2.0; Prime Minister’s Directive, Strategic Objective.” The agency made it clear that the document was fabricated and had no connection to any official communication from the Defence Ministry or the government.

The fact-checking unit urged citizens to remain vigilant and advised them to verify information through official channels before sharing it on social media.

PIB Fact Check stated, “Beware of fake news spreading online and always rely on trusted official sources for accurate information.” They also encouraged reporting any suspicious information related to the Indian government to PIB Fact Check.

This clarification comes at a time when government agencies are actively working to combat misinformation and prevent unverified claims from spreading on digital platforms.

Previously, PIB Fact Check had debunked another viral claim on social media, which falsely stated that Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal were traveling to London to participate in a badminton event with judges.
