
Hyderabad, June 10: Telugu actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed profound sorrow on Wednesday over the passing of renowned Indian filmmaker Bharathiraja, calling it an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry.
Bharathiraja, a six-time National Award winner, was celebrated for his significant contributions to cinema. Pawan Kalyan took to social media platform X to share his condolences, stating that the loss of this esteemed director and Padma Shri awardee is a significant blow to Indian cinema.
He noted that Bharathiraja’s remarkable films resonated not only with Tamil audiences but also captured the hearts of viewers across Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada cinema. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that Bharathiraja left a unique mark on the Indian film landscape.
The actor reminisced about the devotional film “Aradhana,” featuring his elder brother Megastar Chiranjeevi, and the National Award-winning film “Seetakoka Chiluka,” both of which continue to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences.
Pawan Kalyan remarked that Bharathiraja will always be remembered as a director who beautifully portrayed rural life and human relationships on screen. He stated, “The departure of such a great creative director is an irreparable loss for the Indian film industry. I express my deep condolences on his passing and extend my sympathies to his family and fans.”
Bharathiraja passed away in Chennai on Wednesday morning at the age of 84. He was regarded as a trendsetter in Tamil and Indian cinema and had been battling health issues in recent times.
Tributes have been pouring in from the film community following his death. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was among the first to pay his respects at Bharathiraja’s residence, with many other film personalities also expressing their sorrow.
