Opposition Parties Have Trapped Muslims in Vote Bank Politics, Says AK Sharma
AK Sharma criticizes opposition for exploiting Muslims as vote banks ahead of upcoming UP assembly elections.

Lucknow, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is heating up as the assembly elections approach, particularly regarding the Muslim vote. AK Sharma, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, has accused opposition parties of ensnaring Muslims in vote bank politics.
Sharma’s remarks come in response to a statement by Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the AIMIM, who suggested that if parties view Muslims merely as a vote bank, they will face consequences in the upcoming elections.
During a conversation in Lucknow, Sharma acknowledged that Owaisi’s assertion holds some truth. He emphasized that opposition parties have manipulated minorities, especially Muslims, for electoral gain. He pointed out that previous governments failed to deliver any significant benefits to the Muslim community, claiming that under the current administration, the highest number of PM housing schemes have been allocated to Muslims in Uttar Pradesh.
He criticized the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) alliance, stating it serves not the minorities but rather criminals.
Sharma also congratulated the BJP on announcing eight candidates for the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh and extended best wishes for their success.
Additionally, he highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s recognition at an event in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, where the state received two prestigious awards for its achievements under the PM Housing Scheme for Urban Areas. Uttar Pradesh was awarded first place for the highest number of completed homes under the PM Housing Scheme-Urban 1.0 and third place for the highest percentage of homes grounded under PM Housing Scheme-Urban 2.0.
He expressed gratitude for these accomplishments, attributing them to Prime Minister Modi’s blessings and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s guidance, while encouraging continued efforts to serve urban poor.
