Chinas National Day Holiday Sees Stable Consumer Market Amidst Steady Prices

Beijing, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : China’s consumer market has demonstrated stability during the National Day holidays, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce on October 4. As the holiday period progresses, there has been a sufficient supply of daily necessities and prices have remained stable.

Comprehensive data analysis from the ministry reveals that during the first three days of the holiday (October 1-3), visitor numbers and sales revenue at 78 monitored commercial districts increased by 3.4% and 5.3%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Additionally, the trade-in program for consumer goods saw a boost in sales amounting to 19.63 billion yuan, benefiting approximately 3.48 million people.

The supply of daily necessities across various regions has been adequate, with prices generally holding steady. The ministry’s figures indicate that major wholesale markets for agricultural and auxiliary products throughout China are well-stocked. Prices for grains, oils, pork, beef, lamb, and fruits have remained relatively unchanged compared to September 30. Notably, prices for vegetables and chicken saw a slight decrease of 0.5%, while egg prices fell by 1.1%.
