Pat Cummins to Arrive in Bengaluru Ahead of IPL 2026

Bengaluru, March 24: A significant update has emerged regarding the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of IPL 2026. The team’s regular captain, Pat Cummins, is set to arrive in Bengaluru today.

However, it has already been clarified that Cummins will miss the initial matches of the season due to fitness issues. Nonetheless, his joining the team is seen as a positive sign that he may return sooner than expected. Cummins is a prominent player and a successful captain, and his presence is sure to boost the confidence of the SRH players.

In Cummins’ absence, Ishan Kishan has been appointed as the captain of SRH. Kishan will participate in the IPL captains’ meeting scheduled for March 25 in Mumbai. All ten team captains will be present at this meeting. The event will kick off with a photo session in the afternoon, followed by crucial discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and broadcasters.

In addition to Cummins, Australian stars Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood may also miss the early matches. Hazlewood is not fully fit, while Cricket Australia is managing Starc’s workload in light of the upcoming busy international season.

On a positive note for SRH, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Lasith Malinga. Malinga’s arrival will strengthen the team’s pace attack. He will join the team on March 24, arriving with Kamindu Mendis, who has already received his NOC.

Other Sri Lankan players, Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesa Pathirana, have yet to complete their fitness tests, which may delay their participation in the IPL.

SRH will kick off their campaign against the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), on March 28 at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
