Pakistans Cyber Crime Agency Interrogates Rizwan and Imam Over Dressing Room Leaks

Lahore, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq recently appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore. This follows allegations concerning the unauthorized leaking of information from the team’s dressing room.

Their questioning comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly handed over the players’ mobile phones to officials following their removal from the squad for the Test series against England. According to a report by ‘The News International’, the NCCIA is investigating financial matters and suspicious transactions related to these players. Investigators are scrutinizing the financial activities of Rizwan and Imam, particularly transactions during and prior to the current Test series, including their bank account details.

Authorities are closely monitoring bank transactions, and should any irregularities arise, they will trace the source of the funds. Rizwan and Imam were among seven players sent home after poor performances in two Tests against England. The PCB replaced these players with seven others and initiated an internal disciplinary investigation.

After being summoned for questioning regarding the alleged leaks, both players submitted written responses and requested additional time to fully address the notice. It is anticipated that the NCCIA will continue its inquiries with them.

Sources indicate that the PCB has confiscated the players’ mobile phones and forwarded them to the NCCIA for further examination. The investigation aims to uncover how sensitive team information may have been disclosed during the series.

Following disappointing performances in Leeds and Lord’s, Pakistan cricket appears to be in turmoil. Alongside Rizwan and Imam, players Salman Agha, Ali Usman, Amir Jamal, Awais Zafar, and Khurram Shehzad were also dismissed from the team. The PCB has also removed Test head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi commented on the removals, stating that the board had no choice but to make these changes. He emphasized the importance of each match in the series and the need to replace underperforming players. He cited Agha as a talented player who, for various reasons, has not met expectations.

Meanwhile, PCB advisor Aamir Mir confirmed that an investigation into player conduct has begun. He recently stated on social media that an internal disciplinary review is underway following media reports related to discipline and behavior. Mir urged stakeholders and the public to rely solely on official PCB information, dismissing speculative reports from unverified external sources.
