Poonch, June 28: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district have achieved a significant breakthrough. A 31-year-old citizen from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) was apprehended near the Line of Control (LOC) in the Balakot sector. Security agencies are currently interrogating him to determine the purpose of his infiltration.
According to official sources, the individual has been identified as Raees Khan, son of Mohammad Yaqub Khan, from the Taroti village in the Tehsil of Haveli in POK. He crossed the LOC into Indian territory, where security forces swiftly captured him.
Authorities are investigating whether he was alone or accompanied by others. They are also looking into the route he took for the infiltration and whether he had any specific intentions. Further actions will be based on the information gathered during the interrogation.
Sources indicate that this is the third incident this month in Poonch district involving the apprehension of an individual crossing the LOC from POK. Two other Pakistani nationals were arrested in separate incidents, and investigations into those cases are ongoing.
In response to this incident, security forces have heightened surveillance and vigilance in the Balakot sector. A high alert has been declared along the LOC to prevent any future infiltrations. Additional troops have been deployed in the area, and patrolling has been intensified.
