New Delhi, August 13 (Kiran News) – Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) attempted an infiltration near Tikka Post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir during the intervening night of August 12 and 13. The Indian Army responded swiftly, but one soldier lost his life in the exchange of fire. Adverse weather conditions forced the BAT team to retreat, after which a search operation was launched in the area.

According to the Army’s statement, alert troops deployed near Tikka Post under Uri Police Station noticed suspicious movement close to the LoC. Upon observation, they saw armed infiltrators trying to cross into Indian territory. The soldiers engaged the intruders, thwarting the attempt. In the encounter, Havildar Ankit sustained critical injuries and later succumbed during treatment.
The BAT team managed to escape under the cover of poor weather conditions. Security forces have cordoned off the area and commenced a thorough search operation.
An Army officer said that just days ago, two terrorists were eliminated in the same region. He added that this infiltration attempt was not merely a provocation but a clear act of armed aggression following Pakistan’s setback in Operation Sindoor. He emphasised that under the right to self-defence, India is fully entitled to destroy every Pakistani bunker, post, and firing position in that sector. A firm message has been conveyed that any aggression will be met with decisive and total destruction.
