Patna, September 3: The rising water levels of rivers such as the Ganges, Gandak, Kosi, Budhi Gandak, and Son have heightened the flood threat in various regions of Bihar. Heavy rainfall and severe flooding in Nepal have further increased the pressure on rivers flowing into Bihar. In response, leaders from the ruling NDA coalition have stated that the state government is actively working to ensure the safety and relief of those affected by the floods.
Minister Ramkripal Yadav commented on the flood situation, saying, “Water levels are continuously rising. Several districts are affected, including Patna. Many low-lying areas are inundated, and housing arrangements have been disrupted. The state government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to ensuring the safety and relief of flood-affected individuals.”
He added, “The Danapur and Maner areas of Patna are also impacted by floodwaters. I will personally visit Danapur, where the situation is critical. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations at the government level.”
Minister Yadav emphasized that immediate relief measures are being implemented. Temporary shelters will be established for those affected by the floods, along with provisions for food and essential supplies. The government is fully dedicated to preventing any inconvenience, with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary personally overseeing the efforts.
Meanwhile, Shyam Rajak, a leader from the NDA coalition’s JDU party, noted that the water levels of the Punpun and Daradha rivers in Patna have exceeded danger marks. Many villages are now submerged. Engineers are currently working to secure the embankments. “I will also be inspecting the situation today, accompanied by several officials,” he stated.
He warned that areas such as Lakhna East, Lakhna West, Lakhna North, Chandasi, and Fatehpur may soon be affected by rising waters. The situation is extremely precarious, and the government is actively engaged in rescue efforts.
