Amaravati, September 3: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducted an anti-hijacking mock exercise at Tirupati Airport on Thursday. This information was shared on the social media platform ‘X’ by the CISF. The post stated, “CISF unit ASG conducted an anti-hijacking mock exercise at Tirupati.”
The exercise, part of the established emergency and anti-hijacking plan, simulated a scenario involving the landing of a hijacked aircraft. This annual Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME) 2026 was organized to evaluate operational readiness.
CISF noted that various agencies, including state police, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Intelligence Bureau (IB), airlines, fire services, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), medical teams, and other relevant organizations actively participated in the exercise. This collaboration enhanced coordination among different agencies, timely action, and effective responses during crises. The Aerodrome Committee concluded that the objectives of the exercise were successfully achieved.
Earlier, on September 1, a joint mock exercise was conducted at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. According to CISF, this anti-terrorism joint mock exercise took place near the old Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Terminal-2. Participants included CISF, Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Fire Service (DFS), BCAS, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), and other relevant agencies.
CISF further stated in the post on ‘X’ that the purpose of this exercise was to test real-time crisis response, improve coordination among different agencies, ensure timely resource mobilization, and strengthen preparedness to effectively address new security threats.
