Guwahati, March 25: Political rhetoric has intensified in India amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and the US-Israel in the Middle East. BJP spokesperson Rohan Gupta praised the central government’s foreign policy on Wednesday while accusing the Congress party of politicizing the situation at such a critical time.
In an interview, Gupta stated, “There is no need to make claims about reality. Everyone knows that many ships are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The Indian government is seeking a diplomatic solution. Even today, two ships are en route to India. On the other hand, Pakistan, which claimed it would mediate, has had its ships sent back by Iran. Our diplomacy is not about making noise; it is about maintaining the trust of the public. We need to ensure the energy security of 1.4 billion people without creating unnecessary commotion. The public will decide whose diplomacy is effective.”
He added, “Those who have been loudly praising other countries should answer today. The opposition should not press the panic button and engage in politics during such times. The Prime Minister has indicated that this is a crisis period, and all 1.4 billion Indians must unite to overcome it. If the opposition chooses to politicize the situation now, the public will never forgive them.”
Regarding the recent defection of several Congress leaders to the BJP just before the Assam elections, Gupta remarked, “The situation in Assam is clear. The public has decided to move forward with the BJP-NDA. The Congress party is struggling because its leaders have failed to convey the ground realities to the top. They have become so engrossed in appeasement politics that they lost touch with what the people of Assam truly want. Consequently, those leaders who were connected to the grassroots realized they could not present this narrative to the public, leading them to leave the party.”
Gupta asserted, “The Congress party has already lost before the elections and has surrendered. There is a significant gap between the public’s mindset and the Congress high command’s thinking. I foresee an unexpected victory for the BJP and NDA in the Assam elections. The Congress party governs in three states but fails to deliver results while criticizing the central government daily.”
He concluded, “Today marks 25 days since the central government has not increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Meanwhile, in Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, the government has issued an order to raise prices by up to 5 rupees under the guise of a cess. The public has given Congress a chance to perform in two or three states; they should demonstrate better governance there before making speeches. The public knows they cannot trust Congress.”
