Jaipur: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday emphasised that Operation Sindoor is not yet fully complete and declared that India’s efforts for peace will continue until the ideology of terrorism is completely eradicated.
Addressing the Shaurya Sandhya event at Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium on Army Day, Rajnath Singh said, “Operation Sindoor is not entirely over as our endeavour for peace will persist until the mindset of terrorism is eliminated. I make this declaration from the brave land of Rajasthan.”
As army paratroopers descended into the stadium, the entire venue reverberated with chants of ‘Jai Ho,’ creating a patriotic atmosphere in the presence of the Defence Minister. Rajnath Singh highlighted that through Operation Sindoor, India not only showcased its military strength but also demonstrated its national character.
He added that the actions against terrorists were carried out with careful planning and consideration of humanitarian values. Therefore, Operation Sindoor will be remembered not just as a military campaign but as a symbol of courage and restraint.
Earlier in the day, Jaipur witnessed a grand display of military power with BrahMos missiles, Bhishma and Arjun tanks, Pinaka rocket launchers, robotic dogs, and other advanced equipment parading through the streets. Apache attack helicopters performed aerial stunts while Jaguar fighter jets took off from Nal Airbase in Bikaner, drawing large crowds.
For the first time, the Army Day parade was held outside a military cantonment, attracting thousands of civilians on Mahal Road, Jagatpura, to witness the historic event. The parade began with the presentation of army medals (for valour) to soldiers martyred in Operation Sindoor. Recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, and Maha Vir Chakra led the parade.
TrendingDuring the ceremony, Rajnath Singh presented a bravery medal to the wife of martyr Subedar Major Pawan Kumar. In an emotional moment, the mother of Lance Naik Pradeep Kumar, who was martyred in Operation Sindoor and was to receive an army medal, fainted on stage and was immediately taken to hospital.
Highlighting the role of women in the armed forces, the Defence Minister noted that traditional and cultural barriers had limited women’s opportunities in the military. However, significant changes are underway. He said, “The process has begun, and since 2021, women have been admitted to the National Defence Academy.”
Rajnath Singh also addressed the uncertain global security environment, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and strength.
