Ujjain, 6 December (Daily Kiran) – The online booking facility for the daily early morning Bhasma Aarti at the world-famous Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, will remain suspended from 25 December 2025 to 5 January 2026. The Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee has taken this decision to control the large crowds visiting during the New Year period. During this time, devotees will only be able to participate in the Bhasma Aarti through offline booking.
Administrator Pratham Kaushik of the temple committee stated on Saturday that a huge rush of devotees is expected at the Mahakaleshwar temple during the English New Year. Approximately 10 lakh devotees are expected to arrive in Ujjain between 31 December and 2 January. To manage the crowd, ensure security, and maintain smooth darshan arrangements, this decision has been made. He advised devotees planning to visit the temple during the New Year to plan in advance and reach early to complete offline booking for Bhasma Aarti to avoid any inconvenience.
Kaushik further explained that during New Year, devotees will enter from the Triveni Museum, proceed through Mahakal Lok to Man Sarovar, then take the tunnel to Ganesh Mandapam for darshan, and exit via the exit tunnel, passing in front of the Bachade Ganesh temple. Entry will be granted only through offline booking. Devotees must fill out the forms a day in advance, and permission will be given based on the number of applicants.
It is notable that during the New Year, the Mahakaleshwar temple witnesses a massive influx of devotees from all over the country. Keeping this in mind, the temple committee has implemented special changes in the management of darshan and Bhasma Aarti. Additional security personnel have been deployed, and a detailed route plan has been prepared. For devotees who wish to witness the Bhasma Aarti without prior permission, a mobile Bhasma Aarti arrangement has been introduced. Devotees can view the Aarti from a distance by standing in line, allowing smooth darshan even amid large crowds.
