In Bhopal, on September 3, Madhya Pradesh officials reported that 83 hospitals have faced action this year due to irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme. The state is enforcing strict measures against hospitals found to be violating the program’s guidelines.
Since January 2026, action has been initiated against these hospitals, including the de-empanelment of 18 facilities, stop payments for 15, and penalties totaling ₹3,13,79,311 imposed on 50 hospitals.
The actions stem from complaints and investigation reports received in Bhopal. Notably, the Siddhanta Red Cross Super Specialty Hospital has been suspended from the Ayushman Bharat scheme based on the chief medical and health officer’s report, with stop payment measures also applied.
Additionally, a show-cause notice has been issued to Multi Care Hospital in Bhopal. Other hospitals are under scrutiny following complaints, with inspections conducted by the Ayushman Bharat investigation team. Necessary actions are being taken based on available records and investigation findings.
Arvind Shah, Chief Executive Officer of the State Health Agency, emphasized that any irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme will not be tolerated. The program aims to provide eligible beneficiaries with quality, accessible, and transparent healthcare services.
He stated that routine inspections, claims reviews, and the examination of relevant documents are ongoing. Further complaints are also being investigated, and actions against hospitals found to be non-compliant will continue.
