Lucknow, August 23: Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and leader of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has sharply criticized Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP). Rajbhar made a pointed remark about the SP’s ‘PDA’, suggesting that Yadav might flee to Pakistan in the coming days.
Speaking to a news agency, Minister Rajbhar stated, “Akhilesh Yadav is not discussing education, nor the 27% reservation for backward classes, healthcare, or peace and harmony. He consistently uses a language of hatred and focuses on divisive rhetoric. You will see that soon, Akhilesh Yadav will escape to Pakistan.”
Regarding the protests against reservation in Delhi, Rajbhar emphasized, “We support reservation. The reservation provided by Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar aimed to bring the most marginalized sections of society into the mainstream of development. Reservation is not just for one individual or community.”
He explained that the Constitution recognizes four categories, and all four benefit from reservations. There is a 10% reservation for the general category, 27% for backward classes, and 22.5% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. While all groups receive reservations, attention often focuses on backward and Dalit communities because they constitute a significant portion of the population, approximately 85%. This leads to the perception that they receive the majority of the benefits.
On the rising sugar prices, Minister Rajbhar remarked, “It is essential that everyone operates within the law. If someone crosses the line, action against them is inevitable.”
