Odishas Achievements Highlighted in PM Modis Mann Ki Baat

Bhubaneswar, March 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the achievements of Odisha’s homemaker Sujata Bhuyan and Om Prakash Rath during the 132nd episode of his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi expressed gratitude to PM Modi for highlighting Bhuyan’s successful efforts, calling it a matter of great pride for the people of Odisha.

PM Modi commended Sujata Bhuyan, a homemaker from Sambalpur district, for her determination and hard work, which enabled her to become a successful entrepreneur in fish farming. He noted that Bhuyan, who aimed to support her family, started her fish farming venture a few years ago.

He acknowledged that the initial days were not easy for her. She faced numerous challenges, including weather changes, sourcing food for the fish, and managing household responsibilities. However, her spirit never wavered. Within just two to three years, she transformed her efforts into a successful business. Today, her success serves as a beacon of hope for women in her community.

Chief Minister Majhi reiterated his gratitude to PM Modi for recognizing Bhuyan’s achievements, emphasizing that she effectively utilized the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) to achieve remarkable success in fish farming through ‘cage culture’ in the Hirakud reservoir.

He stated that with an annual production of approximately 25 to 30 metric tons of fish and an income of 8 to 10 lakh rupees, she has become an inspiration for others. Sujata’s inspiring journey from a homemaker to a self-reliant entrepreneur will undoubtedly motivate other women in the state to strive for independence. He extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her continued efforts and success.

During the program, PM Modi also mentioned Om Prakash Rath from Kendrapara district, who wrote an essay promoting women-led development.

Recently, around 1.2 million youths participated in the ‘My India Budget Quest’ competition organized by ‘My India.’ The aim of this competition was to connect young people with the budget process and policy-making.

PM Modi expressed that he was deeply impressed by the ideas and concepts presented by Rath in his essay on advancing women-led development.
