Odisha Faces Challenges as Naveen Patnaik Criticizes BJP Governments Mismanagement

Bhubaneswar, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), launched a scathing critique of the BJP-led state government on Friday. Speaking in Bhubaneswar during the annual ‘Jan Sampark’ padyatra, Patnaik emphasized that Odisha is currently facing significant challenges. He pointed to issues such as errors in textbooks, delays in distributing pensions for the elderly, farmer distress, women’s problems, and deteriorating law and order.

The padyatra, which began on Gandhi Jayanti, aims to engage with citizens and will continue until November 2. Patnaik asserted that the BJD has always held a special place in the hearts of the people due to its positive contributions.

Addressing the current state of affairs, Patnaik remarked that the BJP government, despite claiming to be a government for the people, is failing to listen to their concerns. He noted that children lack access to textbooks, seniors are not receiving their pensions, and both farmers and women are facing hardships. He also criticized the government’s inability to maintain law and order.

Patnaik further lambasted the BJP administration for its alleged failures in various areas, including flood relief efforts, rice procurement, recruitment examinations, and financial management. He suggested that the BJP has seemingly mastered the art of mismanagement.

Additionally, he claimed that the central government has stripped Odisha residents of their rights to mineral resources, while the state government remains silent on the matter. He pointed out that even the 20 BJP MPs from Odisha are not advocating for the people, but are instead ready to fight for the interests of mine owners.

Patnaik concluded by stating that the fewer comments made about the numerous mistakes in children’s textbooks, the better, as the state government shows no willingness to take accountability. He also highlighted a decline in revenue collection and the underutilization of budget allocations.
