Bhubaneswar, February 17: The Odisha Assembly’s upcoming budget session is set to commence on Tuesday. In preparation, the Bhubaneswar police conducted a full-scale security rehearsal to assess extensive safety measures. This mock drill aimed to evaluate the readiness of security protocols and enhance coordination for any potential emergencies during the session.

Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Dutta Singh stated that this comprehensive exercise was essential to ensure seamless and effective security management throughout the budget session. The rehearsal implemented a standard three-layer security system to test its functionality. Each officer and personnel was assigned clear responsibilities to ensure a swift response in any situation.

The security arrangements are categorized into three groups: armed forces, unarmed personnel, and plainclothes officers. These teams will monitor the assembly complex’s entrance, main building, assembly hall, and surrounding sensitive areas. The drill assessed real-time coordination, communication systems, and emergency response capabilities.

According to officials, the exercise involved seven core operational teams and approximately 30 senior and junior officers. Security agencies also reviewed intelligence inputs and instructed heightened vigilance at sensitive points.

The police commissioner noted that special security arrangements are being made, considering the governor’s traditional address at the session’s start. The entire complex will be on high alert, with thorough checks conducted before entry.

Authorities expressed confidence that robust security measures and coordinated deployments would ensure the budget session proceeds peacefully and securely.

It is noteworthy that the Odisha Assembly session will begin on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Congress party is preparing to raise several critical issues concerning various societal segments during the upcoming budget session. A meeting of the Congress legislative party was held in the assembly complex to discuss strategies for the session.

During the budget session, opposition parties, including the Biju Janata Dal and Congress, plan to exert significant pressure on the government regarding various issues, particularly the chaos surrounding paddy procurement.
