NVIDIA CEO Dismisses Fears of AI Catastrophe by 2030

New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, has dismissed fears that artificial intelligence (AI) could lead to catastrophic outcomes by 2030, stating the likelihood of such a scenario is “zero percent.” In an interview with CBS News, Huang described predictions of AI-induced global destruction as irrational and questioned whether these warnings are motivated by political, commercial, or attention-seeking agendas.

Huang urged companies to accelerate their AI development while emphasizing the importance of maintaining product safety. He stressed that businesses should refrain from releasing AI systems that are not fully developed or secure.

His comments come at a time when many leaders in the tech industry advocate for controlling the pace of developing more powerful AI systems and enhancing safety measures. Recently, executives like Dario Amodei of Anthropic and Sam Altman of have called for stricter safety protocols regarding advanced AI technologies.

Huang stated that the industry should develop AI in a way that promotes prosperity in the United States without compromising product safety. Earlier this week, he reiterated similar thoughts at the Salesforce Dreamforce conference, where he opposed the idea of creating new laws specifically for AI, asserting that ensuring safety is primarily the responsibility of each company’s engineering and development processes.

During a recent speech at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, Huang received an unexpected phone call from former President Donald Trump. Trump reassured attendees that “robots are not going to take over the world,” labeling the fears surrounding AI as a mere “hoax.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. administration has directed federal agencies to eliminate barriers to American leadership in the AI sector. The administration’s AI action plan emphasizes rapid innovation and reduced regulatory constraints.

In contrast, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated this week that the development of advanced AI should be grounded in the principle of benefiting humanity while remaining under human control. He also highlighted the need for a balanced and thoughtful approach to AI development.

Earlier in September, Dario Amodei warned that the pace of AI advancement could outstrip efforts to understand and control it.
