New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : India is transitioning from a market of potential to a significant player in the global semiconductor industry. This shift was a key topic during the final day of ‘Semicon India 2026’ held in New Delhi, where representatives from both Indian and global industries expressed optimism about the country’s rapidly evolving semiconductor ecosystem.
Lim Seng Chuan, CEO of Malaysia’s Kelington Group Berhad, emphasized the honor of contributing to India’s semiconductor development. His company, in partnership with Tata Semiconductor and Tata Electronics, plans to bring expertise and technology to India. He noted that the memorandum of understanding between India and Malaysia would benefit both companies and aid in establishing India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant.
Derek Shields, Business Development Director at Pfeiffer Vacuum India Private Limited, described this year’s Semicon India event as highly successful and bustling. He remarked on the tangible growth in India’s semiconductor ecosystem, stating that global companies are increasingly focusing on this market. His firm is also expanding its investment and presence in India to support the country’s semiconductor expansion.
Simon Tan, owner of Wisely Global Solutions Private Limited, expressed his amazement at the event’s scale during his first participation. He noted the significant attendance of industry representatives and the collaboration agreements being forged, highlighting India’s rapid emergence as a magnet for the global semiconductor industry.
Eugene Sitoh from Nordson shared his long-term involvement in Semicon India and other electronics events, noting the rapid progress of the platform. He observed that what once was a small gathering has now expanded significantly, indicating that Semicon India is poised to become an even larger global stage in the coming years.
Prabhakaran Kamalakannan, R&D Director at Kohijon Life Sciences Limited, found the event to be an invaluable experience. He appreciated the opportunity to learn about various companies, technologies, and industry trends, which enhanced his technical knowledge and industry understanding.
Milan Sadhukhan, Managing Director of Linde India Limited, noted the current momentum in India’s semiconductor sector. He remarked on the growing interest from both established global players and new companies seeking opportunities, particularly in packaging, testing, and assembly facilities. This enthusiasm signals that India is not only focused on chip manufacturing but is also advancing towards a robust presence across the entire semiconductor value chain.
