Noida, April 8: A significant review meeting of the District Fee Regulatory Committee was held at the Collectorate auditorium, chaired by the District Magistrate. The meeting focused on various issues related to the education system, school fee determination, and complaints from parents. During this session, a fee increase of 7.23% for schools was officially approved.
Present at the meeting were District School Inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chief Treasury Officer Shikha Gupta, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Chartered Accountant Pradeep Goyal, Principal Seema Rai of Delhi Public School Greater Noida, and parent representative Prashant Singh from Amity International School, among other officials.
Several key decisions were made for the academic session 2026-27. The committee approved a maximum fee increase of 7.23% under the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Act of 2018, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Additionally, the committee issued clear directives that no school may compel students to purchase books, uniforms, shoes, or other materials from a specific store. Emphasis was also placed on prioritizing NCERT books to ensure equitable and accessible education.
Schools were instructed to upload all information related to fee increases on their official websites to provide transparency to parents. Furthermore, a ban was placed on operating swimming pools in schools without the necessary authority’s permission. Where permission is granted, it is mandatory to appoint male coaches for boys and female coaches for girls to ensure student safety.
The meeting also decided that no school may change its uniform within five years. Any necessary changes must receive committee approval. Moreover, a prohibition was placed on changing textbooks every year. To address parents’ complaints, the committee has issued an email address where issues regarding fee increases or other concerns can be reported.
Upon receiving complaints, the committee will investigate and take appropriate action. Strict penalties for violations have also been established. For a first-time violation, the excess fee collected will be refunded, along with a fine of up to one lakh rupees. For a second violation, the fine will increase to five lakh rupees, and a third violation may result in the cancellation of the school’s recognition. The District Magistrate has instructed all schools to strictly adhere to these regulations; failure to comply will result in severe consequences, making the institution responsible.
