Noida, April 28: A significant step has been taken to control rising pollution and promote electric vehicles (EVs) in Noida. Under the guidance of Krishna Karunesh, CEO of the Noida Authority, a crucial agreement has been signed between the Noida Authority and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). This agreement will facilitate the establishment of 13 EV battery swapping stations across the city.
The primary aim of this project is to reduce pollution levels and make the use of electric vehicles more convenient. The introduction of battery swapping stations will provide considerable relief to two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric vehicle drivers. Instead of waiting for long hours to charge their vehicles, they will be able to swap out their depleted batteries for fully charged ones in just a few minutes. This will save time and accelerate the adoption of EVs.
Notably, this initiative will not impose any financial burden on the Noida Authority. All 13 battery swapping stations will be set up at their own expense. In return, the authority will earn revenue at the rate of 1 rupee per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed under a revenue-sharing model.
This initiative will also play a crucial role in transforming Noida into a smart and sustainable city. The increased use of electric vehicles is expected to not only reduce air pollution but also enhance the overall environment of the city.
The locations for the 13 battery swapping stations include the Noida Authority office in Sector 6, Ganga Shopping Complex in Sector 29, near Spice Mall in Sector 25A, in front of ESIC Hospital in Sector 24, near Electronic City Metro Station in Sector 63, Haldiram Market (H-Block), Sector 58, near Shopprix Mall in Sector 61, Sector 16A, Sector 16, Sector 18 Metro Station, Sector 15 Metro Station, and areas around Amity University.
Officials from the authority believe that this initiative will be a milestone in making Noida an EV-friendly city in the future. Moreover, this model could serve as an example for other cities as well.
