Patna, March 16: Union Minister Chirag Paswan hosted an Iftar party in Patna on Monday, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The event took place at the state headquarters of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Several prominent leaders were present, including State Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Minister Jama Khan, and Sanjay Jha, the National Executive President of the Janata Dal (United). Paswan personally welcomed the guests at the Iftar ceremony.
Speaking to the media, Paswan mentioned that the tradition of hosting Iftar events has been continued since the time of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that the party maintains this tradition. He added that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s presence is a matter of pride for party workers.
Paswan hoped that the spirit of harmony, peace, and brotherhood displayed at the event would prevail throughout the state.
Commenting on the ongoing tensions in the Middle East during the holy month of Ramadan, Paswan referred to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran and prayed for peace and stability in the region.
When asked about the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Paswan criticized the opposition, particularly the performance of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He noted that Tejashwi Yadav’s party had previously attempted to create divisions among other parties but is now facing internal issues.
He remarked on the surprising absence of some RJD legislators during the voting process, questioning how a party that cannot keep its own members united can claim victory in the Rajya Sabha elections. Paswan also pointed out that three legislators from the Indian National Congress were absent.
He emphasized that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has always been confident of victory from the beginning.
