New Delhi, February 14: Indian Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey has issued a challenge for an open debate to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. Dubey accuses Gandhi of spreading falsehoods regarding India-U.S. trade relations, cotton imports, textile exports, and their impact on farmers.

Responding to a video posted by Gandhi on the social media platform ‘X’, Dubey launched a sharp critique. Gandhi claimed that the Modi government imposes an 18% tariff on Indian textiles in the U.S., while Bangladesh enjoys a zero percent tariff under certain conditions. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha stated that the central government is misleading the nation.

Dubey raised critical questions about the actual need and volume of U.S. cotton imports for India’s textile industry. He also inquired about the total cotton production in the country and the circumstances under which imports become necessary.

He questioned the current status of Indian cotton farmers, the economic health of textile mills, and the balance between domestic production and imports. Dubey emphasized that discussions on these topics should be fact-based rather than politically motivated narratives.

In this context, Dubey also addressed Gandhi’s political role and issues related to alleged foreign support. He suggested that there should be an investigation into the connections between the alleged Maoist movements supported by foreign individuals like George Soros and Gandhi’s statements.

Dubey described the entire situation as “a big lie” and expressed his readiness for a public debate on any platform regarding this issue.

This statement comes at a time of heightened political tension within Parliament. Recently, Dubey made serious allegations against Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, demanding his disqualification. He referenced the 1978 incident when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was removed from Parliament based on similar demands.
