Nishant Kumars Political Entry Viewed Positively by Abdul Bari Siddiqui

Patna, March 7: The political landscape in Bihar is heating up following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to enter the Rajya Sabha and the subsequent political debut of his son, Nishant Kumar. Abdul Bari Siddiqui, a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), stated that given the current circumstances, Nishant’s entry into politics is a positive move.

When asked about Nishant Kumar’s political aspirations, Siddiqui remarked that the key question is whether the father wishes to bring him into politics. Many parents choose not to involve their children in politics, but those who wish to enter often face barriers. In the present context, this decision appears to be a sensible one.

Regarding the recent protests by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) against the Bengal SIR, Siddiqui commented that such issues are only remembered during elections, while people remain indifferent beforehand. He emphasized that this should have been implemented nationwide in a timely manner. He noted that many names were removed from the voter list in their assembly, questioning the legitimacy of labeling individuals as ‘intruders’ when they have been on the list for several elections.

On the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Siddiqui suggested that if the Speaker adhered to traditional practices, he would have resigned by now.

Siddiqui acknowledged that as they are not members of the Lok Sabha, they lack complete insight into its politics. Typically, party whips dictate the direction. He criticized the current government for failing to serve the public effectively, stating that the opposition’s role is to highlight the government’s shortcomings. When those exposing flaws become targets, it undermines the integrity of Parliament. He noted that even if the no-confidence motion succeeds, the votes against the Speaker reflect public sentiment. The Speaker must maintain the trust of the people and act accordingly.
