JD(S) Legislator Questions Inclusion of Party Workers in Prashanth Revannas Charge Sheet

Bengaluru, March 21: Karnataka’s JD(S) legislator Swaroop Prakash has expressed strong discontent over the inclusion of party workers’ names in the charge sheet related to the Prashanth Revanna obscene video case. He accused the authorities of attempting to derail the investigation.

During a press conference in Hassan on Friday, he stated, “We will discuss this matter with senior party leaders and consider launching protests across the state. We will continue our resistance until we achieve justice. Everyone knows the unethical methods the Congress-led government employed to win the Lok Sabha elections in this region.”

After the distribution of a pen drive containing footage of the alleged obscene video, Prashanth Revanna, the main accused and grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, lost the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, which was previously held by Deve Gowda himself.

Prakash urged the government to order a high-level investigation into the matter and ensure that the truth comes to light. He also appealed to party workers to maintain their morale amid these developments.

He expressed doubts about the impartiality of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case, alleging that it has been used for political purposes rather than conducting a fair investigation.

Furthermore, he claimed that there is a deliberate attempt to weaken the JD(S) and break the trust among its leaders and workers.

The legislator from Hassan asserted that several influential individuals’ names have been intentionally omitted, while around 10-12 JD(S) leaders and workers, who have no connection to the case, have been included.

He described this situation as an attempt to distract from the real culprits. “Instead of identifying the actual criminals, JD(S) workers are being targeted. We strongly condemn this action,” he stated.

He mentioned that the party would pursue legal avenues regarding this matter, asserting that JD(S) leaders and workers are prepared to fight against what they deem unjust actions.

Prakash noted, “Among those named in this case are my relatives and party leaders, but they have no connection to it. Some influential individuals have been kept out of the investigation. This is done to mislead the inquiry. The real culprits are being protected. We will knock on the doors of the court to seek justice and reveal the truth.”

Reiterating his stance, Prakash emphasized that the investigation is being misdirected by including the names of JD(S) workers. He added that if the main accused, Naveen (A1), undergoes a narco test, the truth will emerge.
