Shreyas Iyer Eyes IPL Trophy Amidst Challenges Ahead of Season 19

Chandigarh, March 21: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28. Ahead of the tournament, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer expressed his enthusiasm for challenges and his determination to secure the trophy this year.

Last season, Punjab Kings made it to the finals, showcasing impressive performance under Iyer’s leadership. However, they fell short of clinching the title, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) emerging victorious. At the event in Mohali to launch the team’s new jersey, Iyer stated that expectations are high for the Punjab team this season, promising an exciting journey.

Iyer remarked, “There are high expectations, and that’s what makes it enjoyable. I thrive on challenges, but the most important thing is that whenever we step onto the field, we must aim to win. My focus is solely on the trophy.”

He also shared insights about the difficulties of returning from injury, mentioning that he had lost around 7 kilograms and had to work hard to regain his weight. “I love challenges, and I’m proud to have overcome that tough phase in my life. Now, I’m back to lead the team with pride,” he added.

Joining Iyer at the event, Arshdeep Singh commented on the pressure of the game, calling it a privilege. “When you feel the support from the audience, it’s exhilarating. When fans cheer for you, it feels like 30,000 people are running alongside you. We will strive to win all our home matches this year,” he said.

Arshdeep expressed gratitude for the trust Punjab Kings placed in him from the beginning. “When I first arrived here, they supported me fully and helped me realize my potential. When no other team believed in me, they did. I truly appreciate that and look forward to winning many trophies for the team,” he stated.

The official jersey launch event also featured Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon, Chief Commercial Officer Saurabh Arora, CP Plus Strategy and Operations Director Anup Nair, and Sales Director Sanjay Gogia.
