
New Delhi, June 18: Former captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, Nida Dar, has announced her return to professional cricket after taking an indefinite break. She made the announcement via social media on Thursday.
Nida Dar, who has played 272 matches for Pakistan, expressed her excitement on the platform ‘X’, stating, “After taking time to focus on myself and regain my strength, I am happy to share that I am back and available for the Pakistan cricket team once again.”
She further added, “I am ready to give my best, work hard, and contribute whenever the team needs me. Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey.”
Nida last played for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup held in the UAE, after which she was removed from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) central contract list.
She began her T20 international career on May 6, 2010, against Sri Lanka and made her One Day International (ODI) debut on October 6, 2010, against Ireland.
Having played 112 ODIs, Nida has taken 108 wickets and scored 1,690 runs, including 11 half-centuries. In T20 format, she has claimed 144 wickets and scored 2,091 runs, featuring 7 half-centuries.
Nida Dar holds the record for the most wickets by a Pakistani female bowler in T20 international cricket and ranks third among Pakistani women in ODI wickets, following Sana Mir (151) and Nashra Sandhu (117). Her father, Khwaja Rashid Hasan, was also a cricketer, playing 8 first-class and 9 List-A matches during his career.
