Shamli, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Chandrashekhar Azad, president of the Azad Party and MP from Nagina, addressed allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He stated that the public is demanding elections to be conducted using paper ballots instead of electronic voting machines (EVMs).
Azad emphasized that in a democracy, the voice of the people should take precedence. He believes that the questions raised about the Election Commissioner should be answered by him, not by others. “I reiterate that the public wants elections to be held through paper ballots, not EVMs. This is democracy, and the people’s voice must be heard. Serious questions have been raised about the Election Commissioner, and he must clarify his actions,” Azad said in an interview with a news agency.
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, Azad expressed confidence that his party is well-prepared to contest vigorously. He assured that details regarding the party’s electoral strategies would be made public soon.
Azad highlighted his party’s strong support for the OBC, SC, and ST communities, committing to continue advocating for their issues. He noted that the party has been actively engaging with the public, and he expects this effort to yield positive results in the upcoming elections.
Responding to comments from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati, Azad remarked that political accusations are part of the game, and there is no need to fear them. He stated that his political endeavors are for the benefit of society, and addressing public issues remains his priority.
“We are in politics, but our politics is for society. Accusations are a part of politics, and we should not be intimidated by them. The day we stop politics and return to our homes, whether to farm or pursue other work, no one will accuse us, as they will have no time for that,” he explained.
Azad also noted that his party has been diligently working since 2022 to strengthen its organization. He claimed that as the party continues to labor, public trust in them is growing. While he respects Mayawati, he emphasized the importance of responding to the questions she raises, asserting that political accountability is crucial.
He added that those around Mayawati may not provide her with complete information, which affects her public statements. Azad reiterated the necessity of addressing political questions and affirmed that he would not shy away from doing so.
