Patna, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out its second raid in Patna on Wednesday, searching two flats in the Sai Kusum Infinity apartment complex in the Chitragupt Nagar area. This operation follows a similar raid just a day earlier.
The eight-member NIA team inspected flats numbered 1206 and 609, which were reportedly rented by an individual named Sandeep. These searches are part of the investigation into a petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Authorities have already arrested one suspect in Delhi, and the NIA is acting on information obtained during interrogations.
During the previous day’s operation, a young man was detained after attempting to flee on a scooter upon noticing the NIA and police presence. Outside the complex, members of the Special Task Force (STF) and local police were stationed. The police stopped the individual and searched his scooter, uncovering a bag containing approximately 2 million rupees in cash. The Income Tax Department was subsequently informed about the cash discovery.
The detained individual was identified as Anmol Kumar Modi, based on his Aadhaar card. He is reported to be a resident of Ward Number 7 in Chakhiya, East Champaran. Sources suggest that another individual was also taken into custody in connection with suspected terrorist activities during the previous operation.
Additionally, a “most wanted” person was apprehended from flat number 609 and has been taken into NIA custody. However, the agency has not yet disclosed the identities of those arrested or details about the evidence collected during the searches.
This investigation ties back to an incident on June 16, when two unidentified youths attempted to throw petrol-filled bottles into the RSS office compound in Nivaranpur, Ranchi. The bottles, described as sauce bottles, fell outside the boundary wall, preventing any significant damage to the office.
The NIA is currently exploring potential connections between individuals in Patna and the events in Ranchi.
