Moscow, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has responded to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a potential change in Ukrainian leadership. Peskov stated that Ukraine needs a leader who is committed to pursuing a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
Speaking in an interview with RIA Novosti, Peskov addressed Trump’s suggestion that it may be time for a new president in Ukraine. Trump had previously criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming he had opportunities to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict but failed to act.
Peskov emphasized that Moscow desires a leader in Ukraine who demonstrates the political will to acknowledge the realities on the ground and work towards peace. Trump’s remarks came during a conversation with reporters, where he asserted that a new presidential election in Ukraine is necessary.
In a separate interview with ABC News, Zelensky expressed his willingness to hold presidential elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.
Trump’s comments were partly triggered by a recent agreement between Russia and Ukraine involving the supply of over 300,000 tons of diesel fuel. He criticized Zelensky for the global oil crisis, stating, “Zelensky can do whatever he wants, but he can’t because this is a problem for the whole world.”
He pointed out the current challenges faced globally due to a lack of refining capacity for diesel fuel, which he attributed to insufficient refineries.
