New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections. Yash Dubas will run for the president position, while Ishu Maurya is the candidate for vice president. Riya Chhabra will contest for secretary, and Lakshyraj Singh is set to compete for joint secretary. These announcements were made on Friday.
The nomination process for the elections had concluded a day earlier. This year, candidates from ABVP who submitted their nomination papers included Alok Atri, Ishu Maurya, Lakshyraj Singh, Nitin Tanwar, Riya Chhabra, Tanya Mavi, and Yash Dubas.
Following the verification of nomination papers, the organization selected its final candidates for the president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary positions. To prepare for the elections, ABVP is conducting a PG-to-PG and class-to-class campaign, aimed at directly engaging with students to understand their issues, expectations, and suggestions.
ABVP has emphasized the importance of student housing safety in light of recent incidents, particularly the event at Saty Niketan. They are gathering information about issues and safety standards in residential areas through a PG survey. The organization demands that adequate, safe, and accessible hostels be provided for students, along with expedited construction of new hostels and strict adherence to safety standards in PG and rental accommodations.
To ensure a broad and student-centered campaign, ABVP workers are engaging with students in each college, PG, and class. The feedback and suggestions from students will inform the development of ABVP’s manifesto in the coming days.
