NEET Paper Leak: A Serious Concern Beyond Typical Irregularities, Says Sudhanshu Trivedi

Dharamshala, June 15: Sudhanshu Trivedi, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party, addressed the NEET paper leak controversy during an event in Himachal Pradesh. He also discussed the central government’s economic policies, energy security, global conditions, and the functioning of the Himachal Pradesh government.

Regarding the alleged NEET exam paper leak, Trivedi stated that the government is taking this matter seriously and remains vigilant. He emphasized that the current situation differs from typical paper leaks. Traditionally, paper leaks have been associated with printing or transportation errors. However, this time, there are concerns that individuals involved in the question paper preparation process may also be implicated. This has raised significant questions about the credibility of the examination system before any judicial decisions are made.

Trivedi then targeted the opposition regarding the country’s economic policies and tax structure. He noted that during the Congress rule, even salary payments faced challenges. He questioned the current tax framework, highlighting the various taxes imposed on ordinary citizens, including entry fees to parks, taxes on public services, and rising petrol prices.

He accused the opposition of failing to deliver on promises made to reduce prices, as there has been a noticeable increase in rates in a short period. According to him, this situation raises doubts about the credibility of opposition parties, as discrepancies between their promises and actions are evident.

On energy policy, Trivedi mentioned that India is currently negotiating with nearly 45 countries for its petroleum needs, with supplies already received from 26 to 27 nations. The government is working on diversifying its import sources to reduce reliance on any single region, mentioning energy supply options with countries like Russia and Venezuela.

He also discussed ongoing efforts in renewable energy, electric vehicles, hydrogen energy, and thorium-based nuclear energy. He claimed that green energy now contributes approximately 50 percent to India’s energy capacity, indicating significant changes in the country’s energy structure.

Referring to global conditions, he noted that recent years have seen the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and other regional conflicts impacting the global economy. He cited a statement from the head of the International Monetary Fund, suggesting that India’s growth rate is likely to be nearly double the global average in the coming years, reflecting the country’s economic strength.

Additionally, Trivedi accused the Himachal Pradesh government of failing to fulfill promises made during elections to reduce petrol and diesel prices, as prices have instead risen. He also pointed out that many welfare scheme promises in the state have not been met on time. He mentioned the economic situation in the state for 2024, noting instances of delayed salary payments, leading ministers to symbolically announce they would forgo their salaries.
