Kolkata, August 21: Dilip Ghosh, a minister in the West Bengal government, has voiced his opinions on Congress’s decision to sing only two verses of ‘Vande Mataram‘, Rahul Gandhi‘s statements regarding OBCs, the incident at Jadavpur University, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s visit to Bengal.
Regarding Congress’s insistence on singing just two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’, Ghosh stated, “Congress has divided the nation and now they have also divided ‘Vande Mataram’. They have introduced divisive politics into society, which the public has rejected.” He added, “The policy of ‘divide and rule’ learned from the British will no longer work.”
On Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about OBCs in the Lok Sabha, Ghosh remarked, “Wherever he has made such statements, we have won. He has never provided justice or facilities to the people, only engaged in politics. Congress is still trapped in that mindset.”
Recently, Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the central government over the issue of OBCs and caste-based census. He claimed that while the government agreed to a caste census under pressure, it failed to include a separate column for OBCs, unlike for SCs and STs.
Regarding the incident at Jadavpur University, Ghosh stated that there are groups active there that consistently shout anti-national slogans and engage in such activities. He remarked, “Previously, the governor was disrespected there, which everyone witnessed. We protested at that time as well. Such anti-national and anti-social activities should not be allowed in society or the country.”
Concerning Amit Shah’s visit to Bengal, Ghosh emphasized that Shah’s focus on Bengal has been consistent for the past 10-12 years. He noted, “Building the organization here and winning elections has been his top priority. Changes have occurred, but the most sensitive border, the Bengal-Bangladesh border, is right here in West Bengal. The Home Minister has always prioritized securing this border and maintaining law and order.”
