NDA Prioritizing Political Power Over Constitutional Values: Manoj Jha

Patna, April 19: Manoj Jha, a Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has raised concerns regarding Prime Minister’s address to the nation and the government’s approach following the failure to pass the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026.

In a conversation, Jha criticized the Prime Minister for not upholding the dignity of his office. He noted that the address focused less on crucial issues like women’s reservation and more on targeting political parties.

Jha emphasized that the address did not align with the expected decorum of such a constitutional position, especially during a time when elections are underway in two states.

He also pointed out a lack of transparency in the process concerning women’s reservation. According to him, the notification for the bill was issued at midnight on April 16, without any broad political consensus regarding the delimitation formula.

Jha demanded that another session be convened to reintroduce the bill and facilitate discussions with all parties involved.

He remarked that the tone of the national address appears to be shifting. Such significant occasions require balance and dignity, but this time, the address seemed heavily influenced by political accusations.

He stated that the government’s current functioning is detrimental to the nation, causing confusion among the public. He believes that the citizens are aware of the BJP government’s actions and can differentiate between constructive and destructive governance.

Following the rejection of the bill in the Lok Sabha, tensions between the ruling party and the opposition have escalated. While the government claims it is making historic efforts toward women’s empowerment, the opposition links it to procedural flaws and political motives.
