Lucknow, April 19: Central Minister Annpurna Devi launched a sharp attack on opposition parties regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. She stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014, unprecedented work has been done in the economic and social empowerment of women, and now solid steps are being taken to politically empower them.
She declared that April 17 will be remembered as Black Day.
During a press conference held at the BJP office, she noted that the discussions in Parliament regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill were meaningful. However, opposition parties such as Congress, SP, Trinamool Congress, and DMK opposed the bill, undermining women’s aspirations.
The minister accused these parties of resorting to tactics of delaying, diverting, and obstructing the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill, marking April 17 as Black Day for this reason.
She emphasized that women in the country are now aware and empowered, actively participating in every field. They will respond democratically to those who stand against their rights.
Annpurna Devi also targeted Rahul Gandhi, stating that despite being in power for a long time, Congress failed to grant rights to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). It was the NDA government that granted constitutional status to the OBC Commission.
Accusing the Samajwadi Party (SP) of appeasement politics, she asserted that the Constitution does not allow reservations based on religion. She firmly stated that SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi are engaged in dynastic politics, showing no concern for the interests of the public.
