New Delhi, June 25: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken serious notice of the tragic and suspicious death of 21-year-old Nandini Anand Bhai Bosamia in Rajkot, Gujarat.
According to media reports, the victim faced severe allegations of prolonged physical, mental, and economic exploitation. It is also claimed that she was coerced into undergoing a hysterectomy under duress and deception. The circumstances surrounding her death and her final message raise further suspicions about the case.
The NCW has deemed this incident extremely serious and has written to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat, urging immediate and effective action. The commission has instructed that an FIR be registered promptly under the appropriate provisions, ensuring the swift arrest of all accused individuals.
A thorough investigation into the alleged forced hysterectomy is required, examining the role of the medical facility and its staff. A comprehensive forensic autopsy should be conducted by a panel of expert doctors. Additionally, an investigation into the economic exploitation of the victim must take place to ensure recovery of losses. The NCW also called for a review of a prior complaint filed in Junagadh to investigate any institutional negligence.
The commission has mandated the submission of a detailed action taken report within seven days.
It is noteworthy that the suspicious death of 23-year-old former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Nandini Bosamia has taken a new turn. She was found hanging in her apartment on June 22. Initially, the case appeared to be a suicide; however, her family has since alleged it to be a murder. They claim there was an attempt to portray her death as a suicide.
Family members suspect that Nandini’s live-in partner, Aslam Sama, may be involved in her death. They allege that Aslam was already married and that frequent disputes occurred between the couple. The Rajkot police have registered a case of accidental death and have initiated a forensic investigation.
