Navi Mumbai International Airport Enhances Passenger Facilities Ahead of Winter Schedule

Navi Mumbai, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, is ramping up passenger facilities and transport services in anticipation of the upcoming winter flight schedule. This enhancement comes as more flights are expected to be redirected from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), which is currently facing capacity constraints.

As one of India’s largest greenfield airports, NMIA is introducing a digital art program and special experience zones to create a more comfortable and engaging environment for travelers. These improvements are slated for completion ahead of the winter schedule, which runs from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.

To bolster transport options, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will launch an electric e-Shivai bus service starting October 7. This service will connect the airport to key locations such as Dadar, Borivali, and Pune, with fares set at ₹170, ₹210, and ₹450, respectively. Children under 12 and women traveling with the National Common Mobility Card will pay half fare.

Additionally, a private bus service called “Chalo” is offering 21 daily routes connecting the airport to Marol, Bandra, Dadar, and Colaba. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is also providing services on seven dedicated routes to the airport.

From October 10, India Taxi will begin operations at the airport, initially offering up to 40 vehicles. Moreover, Cityflo, Arya, and Chalo will run a free shuttle service between NMIA and CSMIA every hour.

The airport’s transport network has been significantly expanded, now including 3,787 app-based taxis, 184 car rental vehicles, 171 auto-rickshaws, and 547 buses. NMIA is well-connected by rail and road, linking to suburban railway stations in Panvel, Targhar, and Baman Dongri, as well as major highways like the Atal Setu and Sion-Panvel Highway.

For passenger convenience, a 80-room “Swirl Transit Hotel” is set to open in Terminal 1 by mid-October. This facility will offer short-term stays of four hours and overnight accommodations, complete with showers, workstations, Wi-Fi, and 24-hour food service. There are also plans to develop a similar property with 21 rooms at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

To support airline operations, TajSATS has established a flight kitchen that serves over 40 departing flights daily and has the capacity to prepare 7,500 meals each day, with potential to scale up to 15,000 meals as demand increases. This facility caters to both domestic and international airlines, providing local meal supplies for foreign carriers. TajSATS boasts over four decades of experience in the aviation catering sector and offers similar services at CSMIA.
