Nagaland Governor Expresses Concern Over Womens Safety, Directs DGP for Strict Action

Kohima, June 20: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishor Yadav has expressed serious concern regarding the rising sexual crimes against women, particularly minors, in the state. During a review meeting held on Saturday, he instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma to assess law and order and ensure strict and effective action against such incidents.

The meeting at the Raj Bhavan (Public Building) focused on the current situation regarding crimes against women and minors, as well as the police’s response. The Governor urged the DGP to review attacks on women and sexual offenses across the state and take necessary measures.

Expressing deep concern over the increasing cases, the Governor emphasized the need for swift, effective, and exemplary action against offenders. He called for heightened vigilance to ensure the safety of women and children, the development of robust preventive mechanisms, and prompt investigations into all cases.

The Governor directed the police department to strengthen monitoring systems to curb crimes against women and children, provide timely assistance, security, and justice to victims, and enhance public awareness and community participation to prevent such crimes.

DGP Rupin Sharma informed the Governor about the current situation, ongoing investigations, and various steps being taken by the police to enhance the safety of women and children.

The Governor reiterated that crimes against women and children will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and prompt punitive action must be taken to create a safe and conducive environment for all citizens in the state.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland police have issued a warning to the public regarding the sharing of unverified messages, images, and videos on social media. The advisory from the police headquarters stated that group admins and members should verify the authenticity of any content before posting, sharing, or forwarding it.

The advisory clarified that if any post or content is found to be objectionable, misleading, illegal, or disturbing public peace, legal action will be taken against the individual as well as the group administrator. The police have urged people to refrain from sharing content that spreads hate, violence, terror, or public disorder.
