Agra, August 31: A tragic fire in a house located in Sector 10 of Agra has resulted in the death of a 70-year-old coaching operator. The incident came to light in the morning when a domestic worker arrived at the house and received no response despite knocking on the door.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and broke down the door. Inside, they discovered the charred body of Vinay Bose on the bed. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Witnesses reported that neighbors had seen smoke emanating from the house the previous night but assumed it was from religious rituals. Consequently, no one alerted the police or fire department about the fire. It was only when the door remained closed in the morning that the situation was uncovered.
Vinay Bose was originally from Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. He had been living in a rented house in Sector 10 with his younger brother, Sunil Bose, since February 2026. The brothers operated a coaching institute named New Sai Education Tuition Academy from their residence.
According to the police, Vinay was home alone at the time of the fire, as his brother Sunil was away for Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The police are currently gathering information about Sunil.
Neighbors informed the police that a woman regularly brought tiffin for the brothers in the morning and evening. They referred to her as their niece. However, she has not been seen in the area since the evening of the incident. The police are also investigating her whereabouts.
ACP Amisha from Hariparvat stated that preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. However, the police are not ruling out any possibilities. They are examining the electrical connections, items in the house, and the circumstances surrounding the fire.
A forensic team has collected evidence from the scene. Authorities believe that the actual cause of death and the circumstances of the fire will become clearer once the post-mortem and forensic reports are available.
